From heads of production to talent managers, and from animation studios to post-production houses, everyone with a role in hiring or team-building is invited to contribute. Laura Mansfield, CEO of ScreenSkills, puts it bluntly: “We need to hear directly from those on the ground about the challenges they face. This isn’t just about plugging holes; it’s about creating opportunities and safeguarding the UK’s position as a global leader.” By dedicating just 15 minutes to the survey, participants can directly influence future training programs and government policies. The survey, conducted by Harlow Consulting—the same team behind the British Film Institute’s (BFI) screen heritage sector research—aims to provide actionable, evidence-based insights. Clare Vokes, Director at Harlow Consulting, emphasizes, “This small effort will have a massive impact, ensuring recruiters find skilled talent and the UK maintains its world-class workforce.”
ScreenSkills’ ambitious five-year strategy, shaped by input from over 1,600 industry stakeholders, hinges on using this data to define training priorities, track trends, and advocate for the sector’s needs. The findings will not only guide funding toward high-quality training but also spotlight under-represented regions and disciplines that need extra support.
