    Petit labels target as 'perfect'

Arsenal hero Emmanuel Petit has claimed the Gunners' tranfer target Victor Osimhen would be the "perfect fit" at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta's side have been linked with a move for the £115m-rated striker after their other target, Benjamin Sesko, agreed a new deal with RB Leipzig.

Speaking to TalkSPORT, Petit said: "I would love to see a player like Osimhen, for example, as a striker.

"Someone who can hold defenders and think differently in terms of attacking the spaces behind the defenders and being a big threat on set pieces.

"A physical presence as well, but someone who can speak the same football.

“I’ve been watching him since he was at Lille before he left for Napoli and it would fit perfectly for Arsenal.

“I don’t know if Arsenal are going to buy him, but the first thing that they need is a striker.”

    Mainoo's Rice praise

Kobbie Mainoo has waxed lyrical about playing alongside Declan Rice for England at Euro 2024.

The Manchester United youngster has claimed Rice was "worth every penny" of the £105m price tag that Arsenal pent on him last summer.

He’s such a good player, so reliable & dominant in midfield.

It’s always a joy to have someone so strong on the ball next to you and you can always trust him on the pitch.

He’s worth every penny & he’s proved that.

The Real Sociedad midfielder is currently representing Spain at Euro 2024 and has stayed coy about his plans after the tournament.

Asked if the tournament is a chance for him to show off his skills to potential suitors, he said: "I mainly look for the benefit of the national team, I am not thinking about what I can win in this European Championship.

"All my energy is focused on the group, on winning it, and the individual will be a consequence of all this that will come later. I’m not thinking about this now."

Arsenal and Man Utd are in a race to sign 19-year-old Rennes midfielder Désiré Doué, according to Academy Scoop.

Ligue 1 star issues come get me plea to Arsenal

Aleksandr Golovin has revealed he would be open to joining Arsenal.

The 28-year-old has two years left on his contract with Monaco but has opened the door to a move to the Gunners should they come calling.

He said: "I like where I am now, even more than in previous years.

"We have the strongest [Monaco] team of all time, the coach is also the most successful. So, right now, I’m not thinking about switching.

"But if you move, then only to top clubs. PSG, Manchester City, Real Madrid.

"I would also say Arsenal, because I have always had sympathy for this club."

Golovin scored six goals and added six assists for Monaco in the French top flight last season.

Seaman calls on Arsenal to sign Sesko

Arsenal legend David Seaman has called on Arsenal to sign Benjamin Sesko.

The Slovenian recently appeared to snub a move away from RB Leipzig this summer after signing a new deal at the club.

But Seaman believes Arsenal should pull out all the stops to the land the striker regardless of his new deal.

Speaking to Betway, Seaman said: "Benjamin Sesko looks the perfect type of striker that Arsenal need. He was impressive for Slovenia against Denmark.

"I’ve talked about how they need a physically dominant No. 9 who can hold the ball up, and Sesko has that Haaland-type frame.

"He might be staying at RB Leipzig for now, but you never know what might happen in the future. Adding a few notes usually changes things!

"When it comes to transfers, it will be quiet for most clubs until Euro 2024 is over. You don’t know what sort of injuries players might pick up, so you have to wait and see a little bit.

"I still feel Arsenal need to prioritise a striker, and any midfield signings would depend on if Thomas Partey stays or goes. If he stays, then I don’t think midfield is a priority.

"I’d also possibly look for a back-up for Saka and more depth at centre-half. None of it is urgent, though. Arsenal don’t need a lot of new signings, just one or two in key positions."

    Moyes' Rice praise

David Moyes rates Arsenal superstar Declan Rice as a £150million player.

Sometimes you want to take credit but Mikel [Arteta] has done a great job with him. There were things that maybe Declan wasn’t as good at but I think he’s improved.

He hasn’t really surprised me but I do laugh because a couple of years ago people were saying, 'You’ll never get £100m for Declan'. I was saying, 'No, we’ll get £150m for him'.

I was telling West Ham to hold out for £150m and people were saying I was off my head. But I think if you look at some of the players who have come around that price, Dec’s surpassed them and looks above them.

I think £100m is looking quite cheap to be honest. He’s a top boy, everyone knows that. He conducts himself brilliantly well, on and off the field.

    FT: Austria 0-1 France

Arsenal ace William Saliba has kicked his Euro 2024 campaign on the right foot with France beating Austria.

The Tricolores got the winner in the 38th minute following an own goal by Max Wober.

Kylian Mbappe fired a cross from the right and Wober inadvertently headed the ball to the back of his own net.

This proved to be a stressful victory for Didier Deschamps’ men as they couldn’t get a second to seal the three points and Austria came close to an equaliser on occasion.

    Neville explains Sesko snub

Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko will improve by staying in the Bundesliga.

Sesko appeared to be set for a move to the Gunners, only to sign a new contract with Leipzig.

He's got so much potential, you can see why Premier League clubs [want Sesko] and why he's staying at Leipzig for another year.

To grow without the spotlight that you'd have in the Premier League and develop your game a little bit more.
